CAUTION: Before you begin any of the procedures in this section, follow the safety instructions in the Product Information Guide.

NOTICE: To avoid electrostatic discharge, ground yourself by using a wrist grounding strap or by periodically touching an unpainted metal surface (such as a connector on the back of the computer).

NOTICE: To help prevent damage to the system board, you must remove the battery from the battery bay before you begin working inside the computer.

Removing the Display Assembly

1.Follow the instructions in Before You Begin.

2.Remove the hinge cover (see Hinge Cover).

3.Remove the keyboard (see Removing the Keyboard).

4.Remove the Mini Card cables from the Mini Cards if applicable (see Wireless Mini Cards).

5.Rotate the display assembly at an approximate angle of 90 degrees to the base.

6.Remove the four screws from the hinges.

7.Make note of the cable routing and carefully dislodge the Mini-Card antenna cables from their routing guides and pull the cables with their connectors through the system board so that they are clear of the computer base.

8.Pull on the display cable pull-tab to disconnect the display graphics cable from the graphics card.

9.Disconnect the display power connector from the display connector on the system board.
