NOTE: IF FAN6 is installed in a single-processor configuration, the fan will still be
operational.
Removing a Cooling Fan
CAUTION: Many repairs may only be done by a certified service technician. You
should only perform troubleshooting and simple repairs as authorized in your
product documentation, or as directed by the online or telephone service and
support team. Damage due to servicing that is not authorized by Dell is not covered
by your warranty. Read and follow the safety instructions that came with the
product.
NOTE: The procedure for removing each individual fan module is the same.

Turn off the system, including any attached peripherals, and disconnect
the system from its electrical outlet.

Open the system. See "Opening the System."

Disconnect the fan’s power cable from the system board. See Figure3-14.

Remove the faulty fan by grasping the two blue touch points on the fan
and sliding the fan from the fan assembly. See Figure3-14.
