provides more cuts per inch and a finer, smoother finish. For efficiency, operate the machine at the faster feed rate for
generalplaningandswitchtotheslowerfeedrateforthefinalfinish.Whenplaningwidestock-widerthan8"(203mm)
- particularly in hard wood, the slower feed speed is better because of less strain on the motor and a better finish.
Withtheshifterknob(S)Fig.35pushedallthewayin,thefeed speedis30fpm(15cm/s).Withitispulledalltheway
out,thefeedspeedis16fpm(8cm/s). Whentheknobisinthecenter(neutral)position,the machinewillnotfeed.
Aseriesofanti-kickbackfingers(A) Fig.36areprovidedonthe infeedendoftheplaner.Theseanti-kickback fingers
operate by gravity and no adjustment is required. However, you should inspect them occasionally to confirm that they
are free of gum and pitch and that they move and operate correctly.
