Selecting the play mode (DIRECT/STEREO)
The
¢DIRECT mode
This mode is for playing with high quality sound. The audio signals are transmitted directly, without passing through the tone circuits, etc.
Press [DIRECT/STEREO] to select “DIRECT”.
DIRECT STEREO
¢STEREO mode
Use this mode to adjust the tone and achieve the desired sound.
Press [DIRECT/STEREO] to select “STEREO”.
Basic Operation
Selecting the Dolby Digital and DTS Surround mode (only with digital input)
1 Select an input source for which digital (COAXIAL or
OPTICAL) is set ( page 19).
2 Press INPUT MODE to select “AUTO”.
3 Press [STANDARD] to select “STANDARD (Dolby/DTS Surround)”.
4 Play a program source with the ,
mark.
• “ ” or “ ” lights, depending on the source.
5 Press SURROUND PARAMETER.
6 Press D H to select the item, then press F G to set.
The parameter switches as shown below each time the button is pressed.

DEFAULT
TONE DEFEAT
If you do want the bass and treble to be adjusted, turn off the tone defeat mode.
CINEMA EQ.:
Use this if movie dialogues sound harsh to lower the treble sound.
