UNVENTED NATURAL GAS FIREPLACE
OPERATING
FIREPLACE
Continued
5.Turn the override handle fully coun-
terclockwise to the PILOT po- sition. The handle will not stop but will begin to slip when you have fully turned to the PILOT position.
6.While holding the valve handle in the PILOT position, press and release piezo ignitor button (see Figure 50, page 21). This will light the pilot. If needed, keep pressing ignitor button until pilot lights.
7.When pilot flame is lit, hold manual override handle until thermocouple heats (approximately 5 to 15 sec- onds). If pilot goes out, repeat pro- cess. If several attempts to light the pilot fail, contact a qualified service person or gas supplier for repairs.
8.When thermocouple is heated, re- lease override handle. The main burner will immediately light on high flame. Adjust flame size by turning override handle.

Shutting Off Heater When Manually Lit
Set manual ignition bypass switch on con- trol panel to OFF (automatic ignition position). This will cause the controls to shut down the fireplace.
OPTIONAL BLOWER
OPERATION
Locate the blower switch by opening lower louver on fireplace. Blower switch is lo- cated at lower right inside louver door.
The GA3650TA Series
Note for GA3650TA Series Only: If you are using GA3650TA blower, your fireplace and blower will not turn on and off at the same time. The fireplace may run for several minutes before the blower turns on. After the heater modulates to the pilot position, the blower will con- tinue to run. The blower will shut off after the firebox temperature decreases.
Note: It is safe to operate fireplace with blowerturnedoff. However, theblowerhelps distribute heated air from the fireplace.
Follow installation instructions included with the blower accessory.
INSPECTING
BURNERS
Check pilot flame pattern and burner flame patterns often.
PILOT FLAME PATTERN
Figure 52 shows a correct pilot flame pat- tern. Figure 53 shows an incorrect pilot flame pattern. The incorrect pilot flame is not properly heating the thermocouple. When the thermocouple cools, the heater will shut down.
If pilot flame pattern is incorrect, as shown in Figure 53
•turn heater off (see To Turn Off Gas to Appliance, page 21)
•see Troubleshooting, pages 24 through 26

MAIN BURNER
Periodically inspect all burner flame holes with the heater running. All slotted burner flame holes should be open with yellow flame present. All round burner flame holes should be open with a small blue flame present. Some burner flame holes may be- come blocked by debris or rust, with no flame present. If so, turn off heater and let cool. Either remove blockage or replace burner. Blocked burner flame holes will create soot.
