Hardware Reference
When working with
cables, be sure to
connect corresponding
outputs and inp uts (Video
OUT to Video IN, Right
Audio OUT to Right A udio
IN, etc.). Never connec t
an IN to an IN or an OUT
to an OUT.
All A/V jacks and inputs
are color coded. Always
match the color of the
plug to the same color o f
the jack.

NOTE: To obtain optimum pictu re quality, make sure the rece iver is connected direc tly to the TV. Connecting the
receiver to the TV throu gh a VCR or DVD recorder is known to y ield less than optimum pi cture quality, particu larly
when viewing copy-protect ed programming.
Note
Connecting Your DIRECTV Receiver to the Satellite Dish
Connect the RG-6 RF coaxial cable from your satellite dish to the jack labeled SATELLITE IN on
the DIRECTV Receiver. If your installation include s an FTM (Frequency Translation Modu le),
you should connect the RG-6 RF coa xial cable from your FTM to the SATELL ITE IN jack. Some
systems may instead make t his connection to a cable entry point in your house. Your DIRECT V
installer will mak e the appropriate connection..
Connecting Your DIRECTV Receiver to your TV or VCR
Depending on the connections on the back of your TV or VCR, you have the following options:
4 S-Video & A/V Audio Connection (B est Quality)
4 A/V Connect ion (Better Quality)
4 RF Coaxial Connection (Good Quality)
