SONAR MENU -PAGE 7-ASP
(Advanced Signal Processing) ASP is a program embedded in the UltraNavGPS's computer that
continually monitors the signals from the receiver. It determines which
echoes are noise, rejects them, allowing target echoes to be
displayed
with a minimum of screen clutter. This feature is
especially useful, since
it typically
allows
you to
operate the boat at all speeds
without
adjusting
the sensitivity. When the UltraNavGPS is first turned
on,
ASP is enabled.
To turn ASP
off, press
the menu key seven
times. The menu shown at
thetop of the next
page appears. Now
press
the key adjacent tothe "Turn
Off ASP" label. The
unit will
return to the sonar screen with ASP off. To
turn ASP on again, repeat the above
steps.
The
present position display at the
top
of the screen flashes,
indicating
that
the unit has not calculated
your latitude/longitude. Whenthe
flashing stops,
the unit is ready for
navigation.
WARNING!
Never
navigate with
this unit when the
position screen flashes the latitude/
longitude! This meansthe unit is not usablefor
navigation. Always
use more
than one method to navigate.
If you move a long distance with the unit turned off from the last time
you
used the UltraNavGPS
(100
miles or
more), you may
need to re-initializethe
unit. If
you preset
the UltraNavGPS, you
will definitely need to re-initialize
the unit. The "Initial
Setup" menu selection on the GPS' second menu
page
returns you to the initial setup menu, when needed. Otherwise, you
shouldn't need to repeat these
steps.
