PARAMETER

DESCRIPTION

 

NETWORK

The IP Network number to which this

 

RIP entry relates.

 

SUBNET BITS/MASK

This shows the subnet mask detected

 

by the Router.

 

GATEWAY

The IP Address of the next gateway

 

used in this route to send a packet to

 

the specified network.

SERVICE

The required service that must be

 

used to reach a specified network.

TIMER

This will display the time interval in

 

seconds, since

this routing entry

 

was last updated. For the attached

 

Network this will be left blank. For

 

static IP Routes this will be STATIC.

METRIC

This will indicate the number of

 

nodes passed in the route to the

 

Network. RIP packets pass on a

 

value that is incremented at each

 

node.

The metric is used for

 

selecting the best route if a multiple

 

route network exists.

This table gives the current ARP table for the router.

MAC ADDRESS

The MAC Address (Ethernet
