This chapter includes system requirements, safety instructions, legal notices, and warranty information.

To use your printer and its software, your system should have:

■A Microsoft Windows compatible PC with a Pentium® or better processor, 200 MHz or faster, recommended

■A computer running Windows XP Home or Pro Edition with Service Pack 1 or Windows 2000 with Service Pack 4

■Windows-compliant USB port and a shielded USB “AB” cable up to 6.5 feet (2 meters) long

Caution: Using an improperly shielded USB cable—especially a cable more than 6.5 feet (2 meters) long—may cause the printer to malfunction.

■64MB of RAM (128MB or more recommended)

■150MB of free hard disk space (200MB or more recommended)

■VGA or better display adapter and monitor

■CD-ROM or DVD drive for installing the printer software

■An Apple® iMac™ series or Power Macintosh® G3, G4, or G5, PowerBook,® iBook,® or eMac™

■A Macintosh running OS X 10.2.8 to 10.4.x, with a built-in USB port and a shielded USB “AB” cable up to 6.5 feet (2 meters) long.

Caution: Using an improperly shielded USB cable—especially a cable more than 6.5 feet (2 meters) long—may cause the printer to malfunction.

■128MB of available RAM; more recommended

■150MB of free hard disk space (200MB recommended)

■VGA display or better

■CD-ROM or DVD drive for installing the printer software
