Installing and Configuring the Software for Windows

This chapter explains how to install the software, configure the print server, and set up a network port for your Windows computer. It also explains how to set up additional computers to use the printer on a wireless network.

Before you can configure the print server, you need to make sure that your wireless network card or adapter is installed and ready. If you have an existing network, you also need to verify that your access point is operating correctly and linked to your computer. If you need instructions, see the documentation or help files that came with your equipment.

Then follow the instructions in these sections:

Before You Begin

Before you begin to install and configure the software, do the following:

Follow the instructions beginning on page 11 to set up the printer, install ink cartridges, load paper, and connect the print server.

If your computer has a wireless network card or adapter, make sure the wireless mode is set to Infrastructure (if you are connecting to the printer through an access point), or 802.11b Ad Hoc (if you are connecting without an access point). For instructions, see the documentation or online help for your wireless card or adapter.

Note:

Do not select a pseudo ad hoc or proprietary ad hoc mode.
