Appendix C

Control Codes by Function

This appendix shows most of the control codes in Appendix B, but this time they are arranged by categories. If your computer cannot generate lowercase letters, use the equivalent decimal ASCII values.

This appendix enables you to find a particular code quickly but does not give all the details on the format and use of each code. See Appendix B or the appropriate chapter for further information.

Near Letter Quality Mode

ESC “x” 1	Turns NLQ mode ON.
ESC “x” 0	Turns draft mode ON.
ESC “a”	Activates NLQ justification modes,

Character Width (Pitch)

ASCII 15 ASCII 18 ASCII 14 ASCII 20 ESC “M” ESC “P” ESC “W0" ESC “W1”

Turns compressed mode ON. Turns compressed mode OFF. Turns one-line expanded mode ON. Turns one-line expanded mode OFF. Turns elite mode ON.

Turns either expanded mode OFF. Turns continuous expanded mode ON.

Character Weight
