11 Troubleshooting

In case you run intodifficulty while operating the 1521, this section provides

some suggestionsthat may help you solvethe problem. Below are several situa-

tionsthat may arise followed by possible causes of the problem and suggested

actionsyou mighttake.

11.1 An Error Message Is Displayed

The followingtable lists possible error messages, their causes, and suggested

actions.

“RechargeNeeded”
Thebattery is low and needs to be recharged.
Whenthis message first
appearsthe user has approximately 30 minutes of charge left. If the
batteryis not recharged, the 1521 continues to operate until the bat-
terydrops below 0% and then automatically shuts itself off after dis-
playingthe error message.
“NoProbe” Thedisplay shows ‘ - - - ----‘.Theinstrument is unable to detect
thata probe is connected. Check that a probe with a properly pro-
grammedINFO-CON connector is attached.
“Probeis locked” Theincorrect probe is attached. The meter is set to accept only the
probewith the given serial number. Attach the correct probe or have
theinstrument properly programmed for the new probe.
“Prbcal e xpired” Theprobe calibration has expired. Have the probe calibrated and
thecalibration due date reset.
“Mtrcal exp ired” The meter calibration has expired.Hav e the instrument calibrated
andthe calibration due date reset.
“InvalidPasscode” Thepasscode entered was not correct. Check the passcode on the
Pass-codeNotice sent with the instrument.
Theinstrument display is blank
whennormally it should show
measurements.
Makesure the instrument has power, either from the batteries or
theAC adapter. Verify that the initialization information appears on
thedisplay when the power is switched on. Check to make sure that a
probeis properly connected. Check to make sure that the probe is
programmedproperly.
