Basic Movie Recording and Playback

Recording High-Definition (HD) Movies

The camera can be used to record short high-definition movies. Sound is recorded in stereo via the built-in microphone; do not cover the microphone during recording.

1 Set aperture to A.

R Image stabilization (P9) is recommended.

2 Press the DRIVE button to display drive options. Press the selector up or down to highlight F(MOVIE) and press MENU/OK.

3 Press the shutter button all the way down to start re- cording.

4 Press the shutter button all the way down again to end recording. Recording ends

automatically when the maximum length is reached or the memory card is full.

R Frame size and rate can be selected using the WMOVIE MODE option (P80). Focus mode is selected using the focus mode selector (P47); for continuous focus adjustment, select C, or choose

Sand enable Intelligent Face Detection (P77, 80). Intelligent Face Detection is not available in focus mode M.

R During recording, exposure compensation can be adjusted by up to ±2 EV.

R The indicator lamp lights while movies are being recorded.

Q The microphone may pick up lens noise and other sounds made by the camera during recording.

QVertical or horizontal streaks may appear in movies containing very bright subjects. This is normal and does not indicate a malfunction.

The Q button can be used to view and adjust camera settings (P36).
