hWhen the camera and computer are exchanging
data, the self-timer lamp blinks and the viewfinder
lamp blinks alternately green and orange.
h“DSC” appears on the display panel.
hPower save and auto power off are disabled
during USB connection.

Before replacing the xD-Picture Card, always disconnect the
camera from the PC using the procedure on P.88.

Do not disconnect the USB cable when the camera is
communicating with the PC. See P.88 for information on the
disconnection procedure.
1Insert an xD-Picture Card containing photographed
images into your camera. Plug the AC power
adapter connector into the “DC IN 5V” socket on the
camera and then plug the adapter itself into the main
power outlet.
2Slide the Power switch to the “w” position.
3Set the “USB MODE” setting in the “SET–UP”
menu to “¶” (➡P.71).
4Slide the Power switch to the side to turn the
camera off.
1Turn your PC on.
2Open the connector cover on the camera.
3Connect the camera to the PC using the USB
cable (included).
4Switch the camera on.

The “Camera Connection” section explains how to connect the camera to your computer using the
included USB cable and describes the functions you can use once the camera and computer are
connected.
Turn off the camera and TV. Open the connector
cover for the camera’s A/V OUT (audio-visual
output) socket.
Then plug the included A/V cable (provided with the
camera) into the A/V OUT (audio/visual output)
socket.
Plug the other end of the cable into the video input
socket on the TV. Then turn the camera and TV on
and take pictures or playback images as you would
normally.

Plugging in the dedicated A/V cable without first opening the
connector cover could damage the camera.

If there is a power outlet available, connect the AC Power
Adapter AC-5VW.

Refer to the instructions provided with your TV for more
information on video input for your TV.
If the power cuts out during data transmission, the data will not be transmitted correctly. Always use the
AC power adapter when connecting the camera to a computer.
For more information on using the software, refer to “How
to use FinePixViewer” in the HELP menu which was
installed from the CD-ROM.
Refer to Section 5 the first time you connect the camera to your computer.
Do not connect the camera with the computer before
installing all the software.
This mode provides a simple way to read images from an xD-Picture Card and store images on to
an xD-Picture Card (➡P.85).

Change between “¶” and “qPC” in the camera’s SET–UP screen.

Use the AC Power Adapter AC-5VW for the connection
(➡P.13). If shutting off power supply during communication,
the files on the media may be damaged.

Take care to ensure that the USB cable (included) is connected
the correct way around and that the plugs are pushed fully into
the sockets.
