Fusion Intelpage IP

Manual

If the Intelpage IP 5 is to be connected directly to a single PC or directly to another Ethernet enabled Fusion Series product, an RJ45 crossover cable should be used. An Ethernet crossover cable is included in the package. (red cable)

4.2.2Serial Connection

The 9-Pin RS232 port on Intelpage IP 5 is a serial port like any other that may be found on a PC or other modem.

Serial and null modem cables can be purchased at any electronics or computer store. Alternatively, you can build your own if you have the parts around.

There are two types of serial cable:

Most serial connections you will require a straight through cable, on which each pin is wired straight through with TX-TX, RX-RX and so on.

Some systems require a null modem crossover cable that has all pins wired straight through except for the transmit and receive lines which are crossed (TX-RX and RX- RX).

ÆIMPORTANT: When connecting Intelpage IP 5 to a PC (e.g. when programming through HyperTerminal or manual paging), a straight-through cable will be required. A null modem cable will not work.
