CUTTER DECK
Prior to using the mower, be sure to check that dirt, mud, and grass have
not built up in the deck. For cleaning, refer to page 77.
CUTTER DECK DRIVE BELT AND BLADE BELT
l Inspection
1. Lower the deck as far as it will go with the deck height adjusting lever,
and raise the hood.
2. Inspect the belts for damage or excessive wear. If the belts are damag-
ed or excessively worn, replace them as described on pages 66 - 69.

l Cutter deck drive belt tension
1. Lower the deck as far as it will go with the deck height adjusting lever.
2. Check belt tension by looking at the location of the tension indicator pin
on the tensioner arm. The tension is OK as long as the pin is between
the tension alignment mark and the low tension indicator mark.
If the pin is not between the marks, follow the steps below:
a. Loosen the lock nut.
b. Turn the belt tension adjusting knob until the pin aligns with the ten-
sion alignment mark.
NOTE: It is not necessary to replace the drive belt if the tension in-
dicator pin is between the two marks.
c. Tighten the lock nut. (38 inch type)
