Creating a Digital Print Order Format (DPOF) file

If you intend to print photos directly from the memory card on a printer that has a built-in card reader, you can streamline the printing process by creating a DPOF file. To create a DPOF file, you use the DPOF camera menu to select which photos you want to print. Then, when you insert the memory card into your DPOF-compatible printer, the printer reads the DPOF file and prints the specified photos. See “Printing photos without a computer” on page 64 for instructions on printing photos directly from the memory card.

DPOF technology gives you the convenience of using your camera to select the photos you want to print. For example, when you gather with family and friends to view your photos, you can create a DPOF file to keep track of the photos they want copies of.
