Image Fusing/Variable Fusing Temperature
During the fusing process, the Toner is fused into the paper by heat and pressure to produce a permanent image. The paper passes between a heated Fusing Roller and a soft Pressure Roller. This melts the Toner and presses it into the paper.
The Fusing Roller contains a ceramic heating element that provides heat for the fusing process. Fusing temperature is monitored by the Engine Controller Board, via the Thermistor TH901. The Engine Controller Board maintains a temperature of about 383° F (195° C) during print mode. If the Fusing System overheats (about
428° F/220° C), a relay opens, interrupting power to the Fusing Heater, causing a Fuser error message (50.X FUSER ERROR). If the Fusing System exceeds 464° F (240° C), the thermal fuse will open, cutting off power to the Fuser.
