Before removing the memory module, follow these steps:

1.Shut down the computer.

2.Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.

3.Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet, and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.

4.Remove the battery (see “Battery” on page 4-7).

5.Remove the switch cover (see “Switch cover” on page 4-8).

6.Remove the keyboard (see “Keyboard” on page 4-9).Remove the memory module:

✎The top memory module slot is for expansion memory, and the bottom slot is for primary memory.

1.Pull away the retention clips 1 on each side of the memory module to release the memory module. (The edge of the module opposite the slot rises away from the computer.)

ÄCAUTION: To prevent damage to the memory module, hold it by the edges only. Do not touch the components on the memory module.

2.Grasp the edge of the memory module 2, and gently pull it out of the memory module slot.

✎Memory modules are designed with a notch 3 to prevent incorrect insertion into the memory module slot.

Reverse this procedure to install a memory module.
