Top cover (includes TouchPad and TouchPad cable, caps lock light board and cable, and top	464111-001
cover bumper pads)

Before removing the top cover, follow these steps:

1.Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.

2.Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.

3.Disconnect the power cord.

4.Remove the battery (see Battery on page 39).

5.Remove the following components:

a.Hard drive (see Hard drive on page 41)

b.Optical drive (see Optical drive on page 43)

c.Keyboard (see Keyboard on page 49)

d.Switch cover (see Switch cover on page 51)

e.Display assembly (see Display assembly on page 53)

Remove the top cover:

1.Turn the computer upside down, with the front toward you.

2.Remove the five Phillips PM2.0×7.0 screws (1) and the three Phillips PM2.0×4.0 screws (2) that secure the top cover to the computer.

3.Turn the computer right-side up, with the front toward you.

4.Disconnect the display lid switch board cable (1) from the system board.
