Chart View Orientation

Both Chart and Combo Views allow you to choose the orientation of the view (see Navigation Menu Tab: Chart Orientation). In each orientation, the view pans automatically so that the boat is always centered on the display. To see more of the view when the boat is traveling at the speed you set, see Chart Menu Tab: Vessel Offset and Offset Speed.

North-Up:True North is shown at the top of the display. Objects located to the north of the boat are drawn above the boat.

Heading-Up:The boat’s current heading points up, and the chart rotates around the vessel so that the vessel always points up on the view.

Course-Up:During navigation, the projected course is shown at the top of the view. Objects ahead of the boat are drawn above the boat. When the boat is not navigating, the course-up reference is provided by the COG (course over ground) calculation.

North-Up Icon: If it is turned on, the North-Up Icon displays the direction of True North. It also displays the Chart Orientation, and the icon will change as the orientation and the data source change (see Navigation Menu Tab: North-Up Indicator).

When the boat is stationary, it is drawn as a circle.

When the boat is in motion, it takes on a boat shape, pointed in the direction of motion (always up in the Course-Up orientation).
