5Economical operation

Rule 1. Clean the air filter at least once daily. A good scheme is to alternate between two air filters so that you always have a clean filter ready to fit on the saw.

Rule 2. Keep the cylinder cooling fins clean. Remove daily any dirt that has fastened in them. You will then avoid having troubl,e removing dirt and oil which has become baked on and which also reduces cooling efficiency.

Rule 3. Keep the chain sharp. Sharpen it fre- quently – especially when Iimbing and working on frozen timber – preferably each time you refuel.

Rule 4. Obtain two or three chains arrd change them at regular intervals (daily or every other day). Chains and drive sprockets bed into each other in this way and will then last longer.

Rule 5. Check and adjust chain angles and depth

settings at regular intervals. Use gauges. Rule 6. Check all nuts and bolts.

Rule 7. Do not allow the saw to become clogged with dirt.

Rule 8. The sparking plug gradually wears out and the electrode gap widens little by little. If the gap becomes too wide the ignition system may be ruined. Check the sparking plug gap at least once every week and adjust if neces- sary.

Rule 9. Acquire a small stock of those parts which wear out the most rapidly – starter cords, screws, sparking plug, guide bar nuts, etc. Then you will not have to interrupt your work for long in the event of a breakdown.

Rule 10. Take the instruction book along to your workplace. [t will then be immediately at hand when most needed.

5. Wirtschaftlicher Betrieb

Regel 1.

Regel 5. Die Schneidwinkel und die Tieferstellung

der Ketten regelmassig kontrollieren und be- richtigen. Mit Lehren arbeiten.

Regel 6. Schrauben und Muttern kontrollieren. Regel 7. Die Sage nicht verschmutzen Iassen. Regel 8.
