Using Commitment Control

The changes made at step

are

rolled

back by the ROLBK operation

even though the file has been closed at

step 4.

The

ROLBK

operation

issued

from another

program

in

 

the

 

same

activation

group

or

job.

 

A program

does

not

have

to

operate

all

its

files

under

commitment

contr

do so may adversely affect performance. The

COMMIT

and

ROLBK

operation

have

no

effect

on

files that

 

are

 

not

under

commitment control.

 

 

Note:

When

multiple devices

are

attached

to an application program, and

 

ment

control

is

in

effect

for

the

files

this

program

uses,

the

 

ROLBK operations continue to work on

a file basis and not by dev

 

database may be updated with partially completed

COMMIT

blocks or

 

changes that other users have completed may be eliminated. It

Example of Using Commitment Control

This example illustrates the specifications and CL commands required for program to operate under commitment control.

To prepare for using commitment control, you issue the following CL command

1.CRTJRNRCV JRNRCV (RECEIVER)

This command creates a journal receiver RECEIVER.

2.CRTJRN JRN(JOURNAL) JRNRCV(RECEIVER)

This command creates a journal JOURNAL and attaches the journal rec

RECEIVER.

3.STRJRNPF FILE(MASTER TRANS) JRN(JOURNAL)

This

command directs

journal

entries for the file MASTER and the file

to the journal

JOURNAL.

 

In your

program,

you

specify

COMMIT for the file MASTER and the file
