Battery Connection
The battery connector is located on the rear panel (See Con-
necting Equipment and Power to the Uninterruptible Power
Supply).
For battery connection, push the connector into the corre-
sponding port.

1 & 2 USB Port & Serial Port
Power management software and either USB or serial port commu-
nication with the uninterruptible power supply can be used. Use only
cables supplied or approved by IBM.
Use the supplied serial cable to connect to the serial port. DO
NOT use a standard serial interface cable since it is incompatible
with the uninterruptible power supply connector.
Important: Serial and USB ports cannot be used simultaneously.

4 TVSS Screw The uninterruptible power supply features a transient voltage surge-
suppression (TVSS) screw for connecting the ground lead on surge
suppression devices such as telephone and network line protectors.
When connecting a grounding cable, disconnect the unit from the
utility power outlet.

12 Telephone/Network Surge Sup-
pression Ports 1000TLV, 1000THV, 1500TLV and 1500THV models only: For tele-
phone/network surge suppression, connect a single line telephone or
a 10Base-T/ 100Base-Tx network cable into the RJ-45/RJ-11 tele-
phone/network surge protection port, , on the back of the unin-
terruptible power supply. Connect from the port with sup-
plied telephone or network cabling to a fax modem or network port.
