Basic operations

Listening using the headphones

You can connect stereo headphones with a standard binaural (ste- reo) plug to the Phones jack.

When the headphone plug is inserted, the speakers are not automat- ically muted but can be controlled using the Speakers A/B buttons.

Mute function (Remote controller only)

To temporarily switch off the sound from the speakers or head- phones, press the Muting button on the remote controller.

The AUDIO MUTE indicator will flash.

The muting function will be cancelled if you:

press the Muting button again, or

turn the power off, then on again.

Sleep function (Remote controller only)

The sleep timer can power off the system after a specified time period.

To operate this function, use the remote control supplied with your DTM-5.3.

1Start playing the source you would like to listen to CD, tape or radio broadcast.

2Set the amount of time after which you want the system to turn off.

The sleep timer works for up to 90 minutes. You can shorten the timer by 10 minute increments by pressing the Sleep button until the desired time has been reached.

After the set time passes, the power switches off automatically.

The timer will be cancelled if you:

press the Sleep button until it changes to the display of the source to which you are listening, or

turn off the power while the timer is operating.
