Learning Tips
Before transferring commands from your original remote to theRM24941, check out
these useful tips on Learning.
1. Make sure you are using fresh batteries in both the RM24941 and the original remote.
2. It is recommended that a Master Clear be done before attempting
any Learning. This clears all Learned commands for all device
modes. (Seesection on Master Clear).
3. Point the top of the original remote at the base of the RM24941 so the
IR LEDon the original remote is in line with the RM24941 Learning
sensor, located at the bottom of the remote.
4 The remotes should be positioned two to three inches apart.
5. To ensure that your units are compatible and toincrease your famil-
iarity with the unit, you may wish to experiment by
learning two or three keys initially. Then, carry out a Master Clear
before learning allthe desired functions from your original remote.
6. Incandescent or low-energy light can cause interference
with the IR transmissions. Whenusing the Learning
function, keep theremotes at least three feet away from suchlight
sources.
7. When learning a key, do not release the key on your original remote
until the LED indicator light remains on, which takes 2-3 seconds.
8. No commands may be learned under the LCD LEARN,SCREENor
SETUPkeys or the device keys on the rubber keypad (such as TV, VCR, DVD,
SAT/CBL, or AUDIOkeys).
9. If there is a problem with the Learning process, the LED indicator light flashes for two
seconds but still remains in Learning Mode.
10. All Learned keys are saved automatically.
Code Learning
Codes from the Code List include basic functionality for each device they control. Once
you have programmed in the library code for your specific device, you can customize the
RCU900 touchscreen to include certain functions from your original remote not embedded
in the preset code.
Your RM24941 has the ability to learn and store commands from your original remotes
under the mode of your choice. The RM24941 can store up to 40 key commands for each
original remote. Only one original remote can be stored under any one mode (i.e., the
RM24941 can learn the commands for one TV remote, one VCR remote, one DVD remote,
etc.).
Once you have set your Key Label Options and have taught your RM24941 any additional
commands from the original remotes, use the chart on the previous page to enter your
customized options for each mode.
Note: In order for the 24941 remote to learn a function from your original remote, the
original remote function must be working properly.
