Set the items in the sub-menu of the DOLBY PRO LOGIC
function properly, and use the test signal to control the vol-
ume level of the speakers so that you can listen to the sounds
from them uniformly. Be sure to perform this operation before
using the DOLBY PRO LOGIC function.
Preparation:
If you have had the headphones connected with your TV
set, disconnect them.
Increase the sound volume of the TV speakers to a level at
which you ordinarily listen. If you do not do this before start-
ing the operation, it is impossible to control the volume from
within the function.
When you are using an Audio system, however, set the am-
plifier volume to zero to cut the Front speakers. Then pre-set
the TV sound volume level to about 10.
1. Press the
button to display the MENU
(main menu).
2. Press the
buttons to choose DIGITAL
SURROUND. Then press the
button to
display the DIGITAL SURROUND menu.
3. Press the
buttons to choose DOLBY
PRO LOGIC. Then press the
button to
display the sub-menu of the DOLBY PRO
LOGIC function.
4. Press the
buttons to choose MODE,
then press the
buttons to choose
NORMAL.
PHANTOM:
This function lets you enjoy Dolby Surround sounds
without using the centre speaker. This TV incorporates a
centre speaker. It is recommended to use NORMAL in
every possible case.
5. Press the
buttons to choose TV
SPEAKER. Then press the
buttons to
choose the TV speaker setting.
When you are using only Surround speakers:
Set TV SPEAKER to L/C/R.
When you are using both an audio system and
Surround speakers:
Set TV SPEAKER to CENTRE. All the TV speakers act
as a centre speaker.
When setting MODE to PHANTOM:
When using only Surround speakers, set TV SPEAKER
to L/R to disable the centre speaker of the TV speakers.
When using both an audio system and Surround speak-
ers, set TV SPEAKER to OFF so that none of the TV
speakers issue sound.
6. Press the
buttons to choose TEST
MODE. Then press the
buttons to
choose ON.
Test signals are output alternately from each of the
speakers.
To make sounds issued from the Front speak-
ers of the Audio system:
Slowly increases the amplifier volume until the volume
from the Front speakers are approximately equal to that
from the TV speakers or Surround speakers.
7. Press the
buttons to control the sound
volumes of the speakers so that you can
listen the sounds at the same sound vol-
ume when you are located at the listening
position.
LEFT/CENTRE/RIGHT/SURROUND:
LEFT and RIGHT denote L and R of the Front speaker.
CENTRE refers to the centre speaker, and SURROUND
refers to surround speakers. In the PHANTOM mode,
the CENTRE is skipped.
8. Press the
button to complete the set-
tings.
The menu disappears.
Note:
For details about listening positions, see“Connect-
ing Speakers/Amplifier” on page 37.
When you use both an audio system and the TV
speakers and they are not matched in sound quality,
you can change over the TV SPEAKER setting to
OFF to cut the TV speakers. In this case, however,
change over the MODE setting from NORMAL to
PHANTOM.
