EDITING
1For DVD deck
Load a recordable disc.
Load an empty disc. If a disc with recorded data is loaded, the time
calculation will not include the recorded section, and so dubbing may
not be possible for an entire tape.
For VHS deck
Load a cassette you want to dub.
2Press and hold VHS] for more than 2 seconds to start
dubbing.
The unit fast-forwards and rewinds the tape to calculate the recording
time, then starts dubbing after setting automatically the recording
mode that enables recording to fill exactly one disc. It takes a few
minutes to calculate the recording time.
After dubbing is completed, the VHS deck rewinds the tape
automatically and the unit shuts off.
To cancel dubbing, press VHS] again so that “]” lights off.
To stop dubbing, press 8.
NOTES:
When you turn on the unit next time, press VHS] so that “]” lights
off before performing any operations. If it is not done, recording on
the DVD deck is not possible.
It is not possible to dub a tape with a copy protection signal.
If there is no remaining recording time left on a DVD disc, the tape
automatically stops at that position.
It is not possible to perform other operations like Live Memory
Playback. Check the recorded programme on the disc after dubbing.
It is not possible to perform dubbing on the On-Disc Timer
programmed disc. Either cancel the disc programming, or use an
unprogrammed disc.
If the index code (VISS signal) is found on a tape during One-Touch
Expert Dubbing, a single title is created. While creating a title, the
dubbing stops. Dubbing starts again once the title is created. When a
tape contains multiple VISS signals, separate titles are created for
each VISS signal.
During still picture on the VHS deck, the images may jitter, but this is
not a malfunction.
One-Touch Expert Dubbing (From VHS To DVD)
Turn on the unit.
Turn on the TV and select the AV mode.
Slide the TV/DVD switch to DVD.
Make sure that both the DVD deck and the VHS deck are in the
stop mode.

Auto Recording Mode Optimizer
The unit calculates the total recording time of the VHS tape and
automatically selects the optimum DVD recording mode.
Auto Title Creation Dubbing
Each index code (VISS signal) on the VHS tape is detected and
created as a title on the DVD disc. When a tape contains multiple
VISS signals, separate titles are created for each VISS signal
(for each programme).
Auto Blank-Cut Dubbing
Recording to the DVD pauses during blank sections on the VHS
tape and restarts when a signal is detected.
Stop and pause mode on the DVD deck
When recording, the unit automatically searches for the blank
section of the disc no matter where the disc was stopped or
paused.
In contrast to VHS tapes, recorded sections on discs cannot be
overwritten.
