Initial Settings

Video Channel Set

Videochannel (RF output channel) is the channel on which yourTV
receivespicture and sound signals from the video recorder through
theRF cable. Before performing the following steps, make sure the
recorder’spowerisoff and there is no casset te inserted in the recorder.
Ifyou have connected the video recorder to your TV via the
providedRF cable only (RF connection)...
AHolddown STOP/EJECT (0)on
therecorder until the display panel
showsthe following.
BPressPR+ or on the remote control
toset appropriate TV system that
matchesthe system of TV being used
(referto the table below).
1:B/G 2:D/K 3:I 4:H
CSetyour TV to UHF channel 38.
Ifthe two vertical white bars appear clearly on
thescreen as shown on the right, press OK and
thengo to step D.
Ifthe two vertical whitebars do not appear cl early,
pressOK and then PR + or to set the recorder to a vacant channel
between28 and 60 which is not occupied by any local station in
yourarea.
(Ex.)If channel 50 is available in your area...
Thenset your TV to UHF channel 50 and checkif the two vertical
whitebars appear clearly on the screen; if so, go to step D.Ifnot,
re-setthe recorder to another vacant channel and try again.
DPressOK to finish video channel set.
Ifyou have connected the video recorder to your TV via both the
providedRF cable and an AV cable (AV connection)...
AHolddown STOP/EJECT (0)on
therecorder until the display panel
showsthe following.
BPressOK, then press PR – until the
displaypanel shows the following.
Nowthe video channel is set to off
(––).
CPressOK to finish video channel set.
IfAuto Set Up orTuner Set has not previously been performed,
theLanguage Select screen appears and Auto Set Up function
takesplace automatically.

Installing/Removing the lithium battery

Besure to connect the power plug to an AC outlet first before
installingthe lithium battery; otherwise,the battery’s service life
willbe drastically shortened.
AMakesure that the power plug is connected to an AC outlet
andturn off the recorder power.
BOpenthe battery cover while pressing the release tab as
illustrated.
CInserta lithium battery with the plus (+) side up and push it in.
Toremove the lithium battery,press the latch downward
usinga pointed non-metallic ob ject, then pull out the
lithiumbattery.
DClosethe battery cover until it clicks in place.

Auto Set Up

TheAuto Set Up function simplifies installation by guiding you
throughthe procedures of setting the language, clock and tuner
channels— simply follow the on-screen menus that appear.
Turnon the recorder and the TV,and set your TV to its AV mode
orvideo channel.
ASelectlanguage
Pressrt to place the pointer next to your desired language
(Englishor Russian), then press OK or e.
TheClock Set screen appears.
BSettime
Pressrt to set the hour, then press OK or
e.
Pressand hold either button to delay or
advancethe time by 30 minutes.
CSetdate
Pressrt to set the date, then press OK or e.
Pressand hold either button to change the date by 15 days.
DSetyear
Pressrt to set the year, then press MENU.
ESelectTV system
Pressrt to place the pointer next to the appropriate TV system
(referto the table below).
FStartauto channel set
PressOK or e.
Receivablechannels in your area are
automaticallyassigned to the PR+/–
buttons,and non-receivable channels
areskipped.
WhenAuto Set Up is completed, the
lowestposition number will appear on the front display panel. If
“SCANCOMPLETED–NO SIGNAL–” is displayedon the screen,
makesure that the areal cable isconnected to the record er
properlyand press OK on the remote control. The recorder will
tryAuto Set Up again.
