Adjusting tracking condition

Automatictracking adjustment
Wheneveryou insert a tape and start playback, automatic tracking
startsworking and continuously analyzes the signal toenable
optimumpicture quality during playback.
Manualtracking adjustment
Ifautomatic tracking cannot eliminate noises well during
playback,follow the procedures below.
APressSP/LP/EP (p) on the remote control during playback to
activatemanual tracking.
BPressPR + and to eliminate the noises. Press it briefly for a
fineadjustment, or press and hold for a coarse adjustment.
PressSP/LP/EP (p) again to reactivate automatic tracking.

Automatic operations after rewinding

— Next Function Memory

TheNext Function Memory “tells” the recorder what to do after
rewindingis complete. Ensure that the recorder is in stop mode.
ForAutomatic Playback Start
PressREW (3), then press PLAY (4) within 2 seconds.
ForAutomatic Power Off
PressREW (3), then press 1within 2 seconds.
ForAutomatic Timer Standby
PressREW (3), then press #within 2 seconds.
NOTE:
Itis not possible to select the Automatic Timer Standby function if
thecassette’s record safety tab is removed.

Playing back tape repeatedly (100 times)

— Repeat Play

Duringplayback, press and hold PLAY (4) for more than
5seconds. The play indicator ($) on the display panel starts
blinkingslowly. To stopplayback, press STOP (8)ontheremote
controlor STOP/EJECT (0) on the recorder.
NOTE:
PressingPLAY (4),REW (3),FF (5)or PAUSE (9)also stops
repeatplayback.

Locating beginning of recordings

— Index Search

Indexcodes are placed on the tape at the beginning of each
recordingwhen recording on this recorder.
AWhilethe tape is not running, press wor e(2or 6)on
theremote control to startsearch.
BToaccess a recording of 2 to 9 index
codesaway, press wor e(2or
6)repeatedly until the correct
numberis displayed on the screen
(onlyif “O.S.D.” is set to “ON”).
Playbackbegins automatically when
thedesired recording is located.

Locating beginning of timer recordings

— Instant Review

Afterensuring that the recorder is turned off and that the timer
modeis disengaged, press RE VIEW onthe remote con trol.
Therecorder turns on, and rewinds to the index code indicating
thebeginning of the last timer-recorded program, then begins
playbackautomatically.
Youcan access a program of 2 to 9 index codes awayfrom the
currentposition on the tape. If, for example, you have
5programs recorded and you want to watch the third one, press
REVIEW threetimes.
TheInstant Review function will also operate if the recorder is
turnedon.

Skipping unwanted portions

— Skip Search

Press30 SEC onthe remote control once to 4times during
playback.Each press initiates a 30-second period of high speed
playback(up to 2 minutes). When the specified portion of the tape
isskipped, normal playback resumes automatically.To return to
normalplayback during Skip Search, press PLAY (4).

Whenthe tape is not running

Rewind/fast-forward
PressREW (3)orFF(5).
Ejectthe tape
PressSTOP/EJECT (0).
Youcan also eject the cassette when the recorder is turned off.
Turnoff the recorder
PressPOWER.
