L-1 OUTPUT/INPUT Setting

The AV1 (L-1) IN/OUT connector accepts and delivers either a composite signal (regular video signal) or a Y/C signal (a signal in which the luminance and chrominance signals are separated). Set "L-1 OUTPUT" and "L-1 INPUT" to the appropriate mode depending on the type of unit connected to the rear panel AV1 (L-1) IN/OUT connector of this recorder.

1Press MENU to access the Main Menu screen.

2Press to move the highlight bar (pointer) to "OUTPUT/INPUT SET", then press OK or #.

3 Press to move the highlight bar (pointer) to "L-1 OUTPUT" or "L-1 INPUT".

4 For "L-1 OUTPUT"

Press OK or #to select "VIDEO" or "S-VIDEO".

a–VIDEO

: If a connected device's input is compatible only with regular video signals,

 

set to "VIDEO".

b–S-VIDEO

: If a connected device's input is compatible with Y/C signals, set to

 

"S-VIDEO". This setting will let you take advantage of higher-quality

 

S-VHS pictures. (For connection, be sure to use a 21-pin SCART cable that

 

is compatible with the Y/C signal.)

For "L-1 INPUT"

Press OK or #to select "VIDEO" or "S-VIDEO".

a–VIDEO

: If a connected device's output is compatible only with regular video

b–S-VIDEO

: If a connected device's output is compatible with Y/C signals, set to

5Press MENU to return to normal screen.

If "L-1 OUTPUT" is set to "S-VIDEO", it is impossible to set "L-1 INPUT" to "S-VIDEO".

If "L-2 SELECT" is set to "DECODER", it is impossible to set "L-1 INPUT" to "S-VIDEO".

If you have a satellite receiver or a decoder connected to the AV2 (L-2) IN/DECODER connector, be sure to set "L-2 SELECT" back to appropriate mode after editing.

If you're not connecting a satellite receiver or a decoder to the AV2 (L-2) IN/DECODER connector, leave "L-2 SELECT" set to "A/V".

The default setting is "A/V"; if the recorder's memory backup has expired due to a power cut or because the AC was removed from the recorder, "A/V" will be automatically selected when the power is restored to the recorder. If you are using a satellite receiver or a decoder, be sure to set "L-2 SELECT" back to appropriate mode.

When "L-2 SELECT" is set to "SAT", "SAT" appears on screen or display panel instead of "L-2" or "L2".

If "L-2 SELECT" is set to "DECODER", it is impossible to set "L-2 INPUT" to "S-VIDEO".

If "L-1 OUTPUT" is set to "S-VIDEO", it is impossible to set "L-2 SELECT" to "DECODER".
