Picture Quality
Manual Tracking
Your VCR is equipped with automatic tracking control. This will
be adequate for most tapes and will automatically adjust the tracking to suit the particular tape in use but if you insert an old or worn tape, it may be necessary to manually adjust the track-
ing in order to get the best picture. If automatic tracking fails, you will notice noise bars appear- ing across the picture; you can correct this by manually overriding the tracking using the follow- ing steps.
override automatic tracking During playback, press /on the Remote Control to engage manual tracking.
adjust tracking manually Use the PR + or – buttons to adjust the tracking manually.

Digital 3R
Digital 3R picture system applies edge correction to the luminance signal to enhance detail.

•Normally it is recommendable to keep DIGITAL 3R set to ON.
•Depending on the type of tape being used, picture quality may sometimes be better with
DIGITAL 3R set to OFF.
•If you use the recorder as the source player for editing, be sure to set DIGITAL 3R to OFF before starting.
Digital TBC/NR
You VCR is equipped with a Digital TBC (Time Base Corrector0 that removes jitter from fluctuating video signals to deliver a stable picture even with old tapes and rental cassettes. The on/off of Digital
