light or .r_..ightthe water heater'spilot or toming on a nearby electricallight switch,be absolutelysurethere isno accumulat-
ed gasin the area. Searchfor odor of gasby miffingat ground levelin the vidnity of the appliance.If odor isdetected,follow stepsindicatedat "For YourSafety"on the coverpageof this manuaithen leevethe premise_

AWARNING
DO NOT force the gascontrol knob. Use only your handto pushit downto light the pilot,or to turn it to "ON", "OFF" or "PILOT". Never usea tool such as a lever,wrench or pli- er_ Do not hit or damage the knob. A damagedknob may result in an explosionand seriousinjury, ff you have problem turning the knob, call the gassupplierimmediately.
