5D.ROTARYVALVE SERVICE
Beforeworkingonthevalve,turnoff thewater
supplyanddisconnectfromelectricalpower.TO
RELIEVE PRESSURE:
-- 3VALVEBYPASS:Closetheinletvalveandopena
softwaterfaucet.Thenclosetheoutletvalveand
openthebypass valve.
-- SEARS SPECIAL BYPASS:Slidethebypass valve
stemtobypassposition.Loosenthe3hexheadscrews
(see Aindrawing)towardthebacksideofthevalve
toallowpressurewatertobleedout(catchwaterwith
arag).

DISASSEMBLY

Toremoveapartorgroupofparts,refertothevalve
drawing.Acommonscrewdriverornutdriver,
Phillips screwdriverandpliersaretheonlytools
neededtocompletelydisassembe.

SERVICINGTHEVALVE

Inspectall o-rings,sealsandgasketsforwearor
defects.
Inspect thebottomsurfaceoftherotorand discfor
scratches,chipsorwear.
NOTE:If replacementisneeded,besuretousethe
currentreplacementpart.

ASSEMBLY

Besureall partsareinplaceandintheproper
position.LubricateALL o-ringsandsealswithFDA
approvedsiliconegrease.Toinstall therotorseal,
firstplacetheseal intothevalvegroove,rounded
sidedown(see cross-section).Applyalightcoating
ofsiliconegreasetothesealscrossingribs.Then,
carefullycenterthewearstripontheseal,andpushit
downwardontotheseal.
Install thenozzleandventurisealand drainseal.
Assemble2o-ringsandthewavewasherontothe
rotoranddisc.Thencentertherotorand disc,inthe
valvebody,ontherotorseal.
Lowerthecoverontothevalvebodyandrotorshaft.
Theninstall thecoverholdingscrews.Beforetight-
eningthescrews,install thevalvecamand gear.
Then,turntherotor(clockwiseonly) toservice
position.Tightenthescrewsusingacriss-cross
pattern.If atorquewrenchisavailable,torqueto
30-40 inchpounds.

Lubricatethegearonthemotor,andthevalvecam
gearwithMolykotegrease,orotherhighqualitygear
lubricant.
Besuretoorientswitchas shown,withlevertoward
thecam.
