BASIC SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

This guide contains many important safety messages. Always read and obey all safety messages.
This is the safety alert symbol. It alerts you to safety messages that inform you
of hazards that can kill or hurt you or others, or cause damage to the product.
All safety messages will be preceded by the safety alert symbol and the hazard
signal word DANGER, WARNING, CAUTION. These words mean:
You wil__lbe killed or seriously injured if you don't follow instructions.
You can be killed orseriously injured if you don't follow instructions.
Indicates an imminently hazardous situation which, ifnot avoided,
m__ result in minor or moderate injury, or product damage only.
All safety messages will identify the hazard, tell you how to reduce the chance of injury, and tell you what can happen if
the instructions are not followed.
To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons
when using your product,basic safety precautions should
befollowed, including the following.
Readall instructionsbefore using this appliance.
•NEVER unplug your refrigeratorby pullingon thepower cord.
Always grip the plugfirmly and pull it straight out fromthe outlet.
•Repair or replace immediatelyall electric service cords that
have become frayed or otherwisedamaged. Donot use a cord
thatshows cracksor abrasion damage along itslength or at
eitherthe plug or connectorend.
•Do not modify or extend the power cord length.It could cause
electricshock or fire.
•When moving yourrefrigeratoraway fromthe wall, be careful
notto rollover or damage the powercord.
•DO NOT storeor use gasoline orother flammable vapors and
liquids inthe vicinity of this or anyother appliance.
•DO NOT allowchildren to climb, stand, orhang on the
refrigeratordoors orshelves inthe refrigerator.They could
damage the refrigerator and seriously injure themselves.
•Keep fingers out of pinch pointareas; clearances between the
doors and cabinet are necessarily small. Be careful closing
doors when childrenare in the area.
•Unplug your refrigerator before cleaning ormaking any repairs.
NOTE:We strongly recommendthat anyservicing be
performedby aqualified individual.
•Before replacing a burned-out lightbulb, unplug the refrigerator
orturn offpower at the circuit breaker or fuse boxin order to
avoid contact with a livewire filament. (A burned-out lightbulb
may break when being replaced.)
NOTE: Some models have LEDinterior lightingand service
should be performed by a qualified technician.
NOTE: Setting either or both controls to the OFF positiondoes
not remove powerto thelight circuit.
•When you are finished, reconnectthe refrigeratortothe
electricalsource andreset the controls. (Thermostat,
RefrigeratorControl, and or Freezer Control, depending onthe
model)to the desired setting.
•This refrigerator must be properly installed in accordance with
the Attention Installer Instructions that were taped tothe front
of the refrigerator.
•After your refrigerator is in operation, do not touch thecold
surfacesin the freezercompartment when handsaredamp or
wet. Skin may adhereto the extremely cold surfaces.
•In refrigerators with automatic icemakers, avoid contad withthe
moving parts ofthe ejector mechanism, or with the heating
elementthat releasesthe cubes. DO NOT place fingers or
hands on the automatic icemaking mechanism while the
refrigeratoris plugged in.
•DO NOT refreezefrozen foods which havethawed completely.
The United States Department of Agriculture in Homeand
Garden Bulletin No. 69 says:
...You may safely refreeze frozen foods that havethawed if
theystill contain ice crystalsor if they are still cold--below 4°C.
...Thawed ground meats, poultry or fishthat have any off-odor
oroff-color should notbe refrozen and should not beeaten.
Thawed ice cream shouldbe discarded. If the odor orcolor of
anyfood is poor or questionable,dispose of it.The food may be
dangerousto eat.
Even partialthawing and refreezingreduces the eating quality
offoods, particularly fruits, vegetables and preparedfoods. The
eatingquality ofred meats is affected lessthan that of many
other foods. Userefrozen foods as soon as possible to save as
muchof theirquality as you can.
