Chapter 1

Checking the Battery Level

Check the battery power level before you begin taking pictures. Don’t miss an important picture because the camera batteries are low or exhausted.

IMPORTANT BATTERY INFORMATION

For acceptable battery life and to make sure your camera operates dependably, do not use alkaline batteries.

See page 81 for the types of batteries you can use in your camera.

1Turn on the camera.

2If a battery symbol appears in the LCD, the batteries are low or exhausted. If no symbol appears, your battery is charged.

Low batteries soon need to be replaced or recharged.

Exhausted (blinking) batteries are too weak to power the camera. Replace or recharge the batteries.

When the batteries are exhausted, the viewfinder light blinks red for five seconds, then the camera turns off.
