Mode Dial Settings

 

 

AUTO

Icon

Mode

Purpose

Off

Off

Turns off the camera.

 

Auto

For general picture-taking. Automatically sets

 

 

exposure and focus. Flash fires if needed.

 

Sport

For subjects that are in motion. Shutter speed is fast.

 

 

Flash fires if needed.

 

Night

For night scenes or low light conditions. Captures

 

 

close and background subjects. Flash fires if

 

 

needed. In dark scenes, the shutter speed is set

 

 

between 1/30 and 1/2 second. Place camera on a

 

 

flat, steady surface or tripod to avoid camera shake.

 

Landscape

For distant subjects. Flash does not fire unless you

 

 

turn it on.*

 

Close-up

For subjects 2.8 to 28 in. (7 to 70 cm) from the lens

 

 

in wide angle, or 11 to 28 in. (28 to 70 cm) in

 

 

telephoto. Flash does not fire.

 

Video

Captures video with sound. Flash does not fire.
