Troubleshooting
Check the following guide for the possible cause of a problem before contacting service.
Symptom
No power.
The power is on, but
the DVD player does
not work.
No picture.
No sound./Buzzing
sounds.
The playback picture is
poor.
The DVD player does
not start playback.
The remote control
does not work properly.
Cause
zThe power cord is disconnected.
zNo disc is inserted.
zThe TV is not set to receive DVD signal
output.
zThe video cable is not connected
securely.
zThe connected TV power is turned off.
zThe Progressive Scan is set to On on
the setup menu but is connected to a
standard(analog) television.
zThe equipment connected with the
audio cable is not set to receive DVD
signal output.
zThe audio cables are not connected
securely.
zThe power of the equipment connected
with the audio cable is turned off.
zThe Digital Audio Output is set to the
wrong selection.
zThe disc is dirty.
zNo disc is inserted.
zAn unplayable disc is inserted.
zThe disc is placed upside down.
zThe disc is not placed within the guide.
zThe disc is dirty.
zThe Rating level is set.
zThe remote control is not pointed at the
remote sensor of the DVD player.
zThe remote control is too far from the
DVD player.
zThere is an obstacle in the path of the
remote control and the DVD player.
zThe batteries in the remote control are
exhausted.
Correction
zPlug the power cord into the wall outlet
securely.
zInsert a disc. (Check that the DVD or,
audio CD indicator in the display
window is lit.)
zSelect the appropriate video input mode
on the TV so the picture from the DVD
player appears on the TV screen.
zConnect the video cable securely.
zTurn on the TV.
zSet Progressive Scan to Off
(see page 14).
zSelect the correct input mode of the
audio receiver so you can listen to the
sound from the DVD player.
zConnect the audio cable securely.
zTurn on the equipment connected with
the audio cable.
zPress Setup on the remote control.
Move the cursor down to Digital Audio
Output. Press the right cursor. Select
the correct output desired. Press
ENTER. To get DTS sounds, Bit
Stream/PCM has to be selected. And
use the Digital Output or Optical Out
jack. Note that there will be no outputs
at 6 ch analog outputs of this set for
DTS selection. Next select the appropri-
ate sampling frequency.
If your equipment cannot receive 98
KHz, please select 48 KHz or else
buzzing sounds will be heard.
zClean the disc.
zInsert a disc. (Check that the DVD, or
audio CD indicator in the DVD display is lit.)
zInsert a playable disc. (Check the disc
type, color system, and Regional code.)
zPlace the disc with the playback side
down.
zPlace the disc on the disc tray correctly
inside the guide.
zClean the disc.
zCancel the Rating function or change
the rating level.
zPoint the remote control at the remote
sensor of the DVD player.
zOperate the remote control within 23 ft
(7 m).
zRemove the obstacle.
zReplace the batteries with new ones.
