Troubleshooting
Computer/connectivity problemsBattery life is short ■Make sure the correct battery type is installed (page59).
■Wipe the contacts with a clean, dry cloth before inserting a
battery in the camera.
■Insert a new or charged battery (page 1).
You cannot take a
picture
■Turn the camera off, then on again. Make sure the camera is not
in Favorites mode.
■Depress the Shutter button all the way (page 5).
■Insert a new or charged battery (page 1).
■Memory is full. Transfer pictures to the computer (page42),
delete pictures (page 17), change image storage location, or
insert another card.
Error message appears
on LCD
■Turn the camera off, then on again.
■Remove the memory card.
■Turn off the camera. Remove the battery. Wipe the contacts with
a clean, dry cloth.
■Insert a new or charged battery.
■If the problem still exists, get help (page51).
Memory card not
recognized or camera
freezes with card.
■Card may be corrupted. Format the card in the camera. (See the
“Customizing your camera” table starting on page 32.)
■Use another memory card.
Status Solution
Computer does not
communicate with
the camera
■Make sure the battery is charged and installed correctly (page1).
■Turn on the camera.
■Make sure the USB cable model U-8 is connected to the camera
and the computer (page 43). (If using an EasyShare dock, check
all cable connections. Make sure the camera is seated on the
dock.)
■Make sure EasyShare software is installed (page42).
