Overview

Printing Flow

When using this printing system as a printer, the flow of the main process is described below.

Print commands transmitted from the application are received by the printer driver.

Data is transmitted to this machine over a parallel interface (IEEE 1284) when this machine is used as a local printer, over a USB interface when this ma- chine is used as a USB printer, or over an Ethernet interface (TCP/IP, IPX/ SPX, NetBEUI, AppleTalk or Bonjour/Rendezvous) when this machine is used as a network printer. The data is then delivered to the printing system, which performs image rasterization (development of output characters and images to bitmap data). Finally, this data is printed from this machine.

Note

The Ethernet, parallel and USB interfaces can be used simultaneously.
