Yourcomputerhasaspecialtypeofmemorythatmaintainsthedate,time,andcongurationinformationfor
built-infeatures.Thebatterykeepsthisinformationactivewhenyouturnoffthecomputer.
Thebatterynormallyrequiresnochargingormaint enancethroughoutitslife;however ,nobatterylasts
forever.Ifthebatteryfails,thedate,time,andcongurationinformation,includingpasswords,arelost.An
errormessageisdisplayedwhenyouturnonthecomput er.
Beforeperformingthefollowingprocedure,besuretoreadandunderstandtheinformationaboutreplacing
anddisposingofthebatteryinthe“Batt eries”and“Lithiumbatterynotice”sectionsoftheThinkCentre
SafetyandW arrantyGuide.
Toreplacethebattery,dothefollowing:
1.Removeallmediafromthedrivesandturnoffallattacheddevicesandthecomputer.Then,disconnect
allpowercordsfromelectricaloutletsanddisconnectallcablesthatareconnectedtothecomputer.
2.Removethecomputercover.See“Removingthecomputercover”onpage14.
3.Pivotthedrivebayassemblyupward.See“Accessingthesystemboardcomponentsanddrives”
onpage16.
4.Locatethebattery.See“Locatingpartsonthesystemboard”onpage9.
5.Removeanypartsanddisconnectanycablesthatmightpreventyouraccesstothebattery.
6.Removetheoldbattery.
