SAFETYINSTRUCTIONS- Read before operating equipment

This product was designed and manufactured to meet strict quality and safety standards. There are, however, some installation and operation precautions which you should be particularly aware of.

1.ReadInstructions- All the safetyandoperatinginstructionsshould bereadbeforetheapplianceis operated.

2.RetainInstructions- Thesafetyand operatinginstructionsshould beretainedfor future reference.

3.HeedWarnings- Allwarningsonthe applianceandin the operating instructionsshouldbeadheredto.

4.FollowInstructions - All operatinganduse instructionsshould be followed.

5.WaterandMoisture- Tl_eapplianceshouldnot beusednearwater

-for example,neara bathtub,washbowl,kitchensink, laundrytub, ina wetbasementor neara swimmingpool,etc.

6.CartsandStands- Theapplianceshouldbeusedonlywithacart or standthatisrecommendedbythemanufacturer.

6A. _ An applianceand cartcombinationshould be moved with care. Quickstops,excessiveforce,and uneven

surfacesmaycausetheapplianceandcart combination to overturn.

7.Wall or CeilingMounting- Theapplianceshouldbe mountedto a wallor ceilingonlyas recommendedbythe manufacturer.

8.Ventilation- Theapplianceshouldbesituatedso that its locationor

positiondoesnot interferewith its properventilation.For example, the applianceshould not besituatedona bed,sofa, rug, or similar surface that may block the ventilation openings;or, placed in a built-ininstallation,suchas a bookcaseor cabinetthat mayimpede the flowof air throughthe ventilationopenings.

9.Heat- Theapplianceshould besituatedawayfrom hearsources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other appliances (includingamplifiers)that produceheat.

10.Power Sources- The applianceshould beconnectedto a power supplyonly of the typedescribedinthe operatinginstructionsor as markedontheappliance.

11.Power-CordProtection-Powersupply cordsshould be routedso thattheyare notlikelyto be walkedon or pinchedby itemsplaced upon or againstthem, payingparticular attention to cordsand plugs, conveniencereceptacles,andthepointwheretheyexitfrom theappliance.

12.Cleaning- Theapplianceshould becleanedonlyas recommended bythe manufacturer.

13.PowerLines - An outdoor antennashould be locatedawayfrom powerlines.

14.OutdoorAntennaGrounding- If anoutsideantennais connectedto the receiver,be sure the antennasystem is groundedso as to

providesome protectionagainstvoltagesurgesandbuilt up static charges.

Section810of the NationalElectricCode,ANSI/NFPANo. 70-1984, providesinformationwith respectto propergroundingof the mats and supporting structure grounding of the lead-in wire to an antennadischargeunit, sizeof groundingconnectors,locationof antenna-dischargeunit, connectionto grounding electrodesand requirementsfor the groundingelectrode.SeeFig.below.

15.Non-usePeriods - The power cord of the applianceshould be

unpluggedfrom the outlet when left unusedfor a long periodof time.

18.Objectand Liquid Entry- Careshould betakenso thatobjectsdo not fall and liquidsare not spilledinto the enclosurethrough openings.

17.DamageRequiringService- Theapplianceshould beservicedby qualifiedservicepersonnelwhen:

A. Thepowersupplycordor theplughasbeendamaged;or

B.Objectshave fallen, or liquid has been spilled into the appliance;or

C.Theappliancehasbeenexposedto rain;or

D.Theappliancedoesnotappearto operatenormallyor exhibits a markedchangeinperformance;or

E.Theappliancehasbeendropped,or theenclosuredamaged.

18.Servicing- The usershouldnot attemptto servicetheappliance beyond that describedin the operatinginstructions.All other servicingshouldbereferredto qualifiedservicepersonnel.

Notetothe CATVsysleminstaller:Thisreminderis providedto call the CATVsysteminstaller'sattentionto Article820-40 of the NEC that providesguidelinesfor propergroundingand,in particular,specifiesthat the cablegroundshallbe connectedto the groundingsystemof the building,as closetothepointofcableentryaspractical.
