Positioning the Cable Box Controller
Position the cable box controller on the cable converter
box, as shown below.
Make sure that the front of the cable box controller pro-
jects out above the cable box sensor so that signals
from the cable box controller are transmitted correctly
to the cable converter (see "Front Hew," below).
Make sure the cable box controller protrudes over the
edge of the cable converter box (see "Side _ew,"
below).
° Do not place the cable box on top of the VCR.

Using the Cable Box Controller
With this connection, you can record and view any chan-
nel, including scrarnbled channels.
However, channel selections must be made at the cable
converter box. _'his means that:
You can record any channel by using the your remote
control to select channels on the cable converter box
(see_'Cable Converter Box Code Setting" on page
36).
$ If you set up the cable box controller, the VCR will
select the cable converter boxchannel automatically
when you program a timer recording.
You can only program a timer recording for one
channel at a time.
When you are prompted to enter the channel you
want to record, select channel 3 or 4 (whichever is
the output channel of your cable converter box).
• Set your cable converter box tothe channel you
want to record.
Leave the cable converter box on while you are
recording.
$ You cannot view a channel other than the one you are
recording (the instructions on page 17 do not work
with this hookup).
Youcannot program channels with this hookup (as
discussed on pages 7 and 28).

With the VCR on and in VCR position, use the CHANNEL
(Up/Down) buttons to set the VCR to the output channel of
the cable converter box (channel 3 or 4).

Set the TV to the same channel to which you set the VCR.

Select the channel you want to record at the cable converter
box.

Watching TV With the VCR Off

Use the TV channel selector to set the TV to the same channel
as the output channel of the cable converter box.

Use the cable converter box channel selector to select the
channel you want to watch.

The cable converter box must be on during recording.
