Customizing Your Phone
If you do not do any of these thing s for 10 seconds,
the backlight dims. If you do not do an y of these
things for 30 seco nds or more, the backlight turns
off.
When the backligh t is off, pressing a k ey on the
keypad turns the backlight on but does not perform
the action associated with the key.
To control how long the backlight stays on:
1From the main menu, select Settings >
Display/Info > Backlight > Timer.
2Select the number of seconds you want the
backlight to stay on.
Tip:To contro l how long the back light stays on
while a Java application is displayed: Select
Settings > Display/Info > Backlight > Java
Timer.
To set the keypad backlig ht to light up only in low
light conditions:
1From the main menu, select Settings >
Display/Info > Backlight > Sensor.
Set this option to On.
Airplane Mode—Temporarily Turning Off Calls
Sometimes you may want to have your phone on,
but turn off its ability to make and receive ca lls, such
as when you are on an airplane.
To set your phone so that it can not make or receive
phone calls, BoostTM walkie-talkie call s, or transfer
data:
1From the main menu, s elect Settings >
Advanced > Airplane Mode .
2Set this option to On.
This icon U appears.
To restore your phone’s ability to do all these things:
Set this option to Off.
