MONITOR

It is important to monitor for traffic before transmitting to ensure that you do not “talk over” someone who is already transmitting.

1Press and hold the preprogrammed Monitor button to access channel traffic.

If no activity is present, you will hear “white noise.”

2Once channel traffic has cleared, proceed with your call by pressing the PTT button.

Permanent Monitor

1A long press of the preprogrammed Monitor button places the radio in Permanent Monitor mode.

• You hear a good key tone.

2A short press of the Monitor button cancels Permanent Monitor mode and returns the radio to normal operation.

TRANSMIT AN LTR CALL

1Turn the Channel Selector knob to select the appropriate LTR channel/talkgroup.

2Hold the microphone in a vertical position at a distance of about 1 to 2 inches

(2.5 to 5 cm) from your mouth.

3Press and hold the PTT button. –or–

Press and release the PTT button and wait 3 seconds.

If access to the trunked system was successful, the red LED indicator lights steady.

If access to the trunked system was unsuccessful, the red LED indicator flashes and a low-pitched (talk prohibit) tone sounds, indicating that the system was busy or out-of-range.

4With the PTT button depressed, speak clearly into the microphone

5Release the PTT button to listen.
