BELT ADJUSTMENT |

Traction Drive Belt |
|

The traction drive belt has constant spring pressure and does not require |
|
| |
an adjustment. If the traction drive belt is slipping, replace the belt. See au- |
|
| |
thorized dealer. |
|
| |
Auger Drive Belt |
|
| |
If your snow thrower will not discharge snow, check the control cable adjust- |
|
| |
ment. If it is correct, then check the condition of the auger drive belt. If it is |
|
| |
damaged or loose, replace it (see authorized dealer). |
|
| |
1. | Disconnect spark plug wire. |
|
|
2. | Remove screw (A, Figure 24) from belt cover (B). Remove belt cover. |
|
|
3. | Loosen nut on idler drive pulley (A, Figure 25) and move idler drive |

| pulley towards belt about 1/8 inch (3 mm). |

| lever and cause the auger drive to be engaged without |

| depressing the auger control. |

5. | With the aid of an assistant, engage the auger drive clutch. Check ten- |
|
|
| sion on belt which is opposite idler pulley (B, Figure 25). Belt should |
|
|
| deflect about 1/2 inch (12.5 mm) with moderate pressure. You may |
|
|
| have to move idler pulley more than once to obtain the correct ten- |

6. | Release the auger drive control lever. The auger must stop within five |

7. | If auger does not operate properly, stop engine and recheck drive | B |

| linkage adjustments. |

|
8.Reinstall belt cover (B, Figure 24). Tighten screw (A).
9.Whenever belts are adjusted or replaced, the cables will need to be adjusted (see “Check and Adjust the Cables” section).
10.Attach the spark plug wire.
