Channel 16 (the distress and hailing channel) is used for establishing initial contact with other stations and for emergency communications. Channel 16 is automatically monitored during both

5.1.2Specific channels
UK M1 and M2 channels
These appear between channels 88 and 01 when the U.K. or other channel group / Country is selected. The LCD will show UK M at top with C1 or C2 on main screen.
