3 Ready the camera.

Hold the camera securely with both hands, being careful not to obstruct the lens, AF-assist illuminator, or microphone. Rotate the camera as shown at lower right when taking pictures in “tall” (portrait) orientation.

Shutter speeds slow when lighting is poor; use of the built-in flash (0 105) or a tripod is recommended.

4 Frame the photograph.

Position your subject in the center of the frame.

5Focus.

Press the shutter-release button halfway to focus. If the subject is poorly lit, the

If the camera is able to focus, the selected Focus area focus area will be highlighted in green

and a beep will sound (a beep may not sound if the subject is moving).

If the camera is unable to focus, the focus area will be displayed in red.
