Taking Photographs—Interval Timer Photography

3 Highlight Start at the bottom of the interval timer menu and press the multi selector up or down to select On, then press the button. The ﬁrst series of shots will be taken at the speciﬁed starting time. Shooting will continue at the selected interval until all shots have been taken. If shooting can not proceed at current settings (for example, if a shutter

speed of is currently selected in manual exposure mode, or the starting time is less than one minute from the current time), a warning will appear and the interval timer menu will be displayed again.

Use of a tripod is recommended.

Take a Test Shot

Before beginning interval timer photography, take a test shot at current settings and view the results in the monitor. Remember that the camera will focus before each shot—no shots will be taken if the camera is unable to focus in single-servo AF.

Use a Reliable Power Source

To ensure that shooting is not interrupted, be sure the battery is fully charged. If in doubt, charge the battery before shooting or use an optional EH-6 AC adapter.

Check the Time

Before choosing a starting time, select World Time in the setup menu and make sure that the camera clock is set to the correct time and date (18).

Out of Memory

If the memory card is full, the interval timer will remain active but no pictures will be taken. Delete some pictures or turn the camera off and insert another memory card. When the camera is turned on, interval timer photography will be paused. See “Paus- ing Interval Timer Photography” on the following page for information on resuming interval timer photography.

Bracketing

Adjust bracketing settings before starting interval timer photography. If exposure and/or ﬂash bracketing is active while interval timer photography is in effect, the cam- era will take the number of shots in the bracketing program at each interval, regardless of the number of shots speciﬁed in the interval timer menu. If white balance brack- eting is active while interval timer photography is in effect, the camera will take the number of shots speciﬁed in the interval timer menu and process each shot to create the number of copies speciﬁed in the bracketing program.

The Viewﬁnder Eyepiece

In exposure modes other than manual, close the view- ﬁnder eyepiece shutter to prevent light entering via the viewﬁnder from interfering with exposure.
