Macro Mode

Basic Photography and Playback: A (Auto) Mode

Macro mode is used for taking pictures of objects as close as 3 cm (1.2 in.). Note that the flash may be unable to light the entire subject at distances of less than 50 cm (1 ft. 8 in.).

1 Press the rotary multi selector p(macro mode).

The macro mode menu is displayed.

2Use the rotary multi selector to choose ON

and press the kbutton.

The macro mode icon (F) is displayed.

If the kbutton is not pressed within a few seconds, the selection will be canceled.

3 Rotate the zoom control to frame the picture.

The closest distance at which the camera can focus varies depending on the zoom position.

When the zoom is at a position where Fand the zoom indicator light in green (to the left of G), the camera

can focus on subjects as close as 4 cm (1.6 in.) from the lens. At the maximum wide- angle position, the camera can focus on subjects as close as 3 cm (1.2 in.) from the lens.

CAutofocus

When using A, B, Cor Dmode, if Autofocus mode (A89) is set to Full-time AF, the camera focuses continuously until the shutter-release button is pressed halfway to lock the focus. Therefore, the sound of lens drive movement can be heard.

In other shooting modes, Full-time AF is turned on automatically when macro mode is turned on (except Pet portrait scene mode).

CMacro Mode Setting

For shooting modes A, B, Cand D, the changed macro mode setting is stored in the camera’s

38memory even after the camera is turned off.
